Tribute to the Secký brothers

Church of St. Barbara, Kutna Hora,

Horn players Tomáš Secký and Jaroslav Secký

A brother duo who, together, have formed an indispensible part of the Czech classical and popular music scene throughout their lives. Playing in the French horn section of the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, for a great many years they performed at countless exceptional concerts while also made plenty of recordings, including one spanning all of Mahler’s symphonies which feature the instrument considerably. They hail from a musical family; with a French horn playing father, this was the obvious instrument choice for both brothers. In addition to playing with the CNSO, their professional career has involved working with a range of other prominent Czech orchestras as well as musical and theatre ensembles. They have performed as part of the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic, the Karlín Theatre, plus the Václav Hybš Orchestra and were among the busiest of players during the period following the revolution.
